This article explains how to limit bandwidth on router. Bandwidth control is a feature which is available on wireless routers which would allow to limit the bandwidth that can be used on a network by a specific PC or a group of PCs. The step by step procedure to limit bandwidth on the router is explained below.

The router which is demonstrated below is the TPLINK archer C5.

Step 1

Login to the console of the router using the admin privileges.

Step 2

Select the bandwidth control on the Web Gui as shown in the above snapshot.

Step 3

Enable the checkbox as shown in the above screenshot. Provide the permissible upstream and downstream data.

Assuming that 3 PC’s on the network from 192.168.0.2-192.168.0.4 needs to be bandwidth controlled, configure the IP address of the PC’s as shown above.




Configure the port numbers as shown above and for all protocols. This would ensure that any traffic to the internet would be bandwidth monitored from the PC’s as mentioned.

The above configurations would ensure that bandwidth is limited for the configured PCs.
